Sonoma Spring Shows

June 2, 2016

My deepest apologies! After the excitement of kicking off the Sonoma horse show series, I forgot to update everyone on how it went for everyone at Dreamland Farms! So here it is:

Halladio and Andrea continue working towards their goal of conquering the derbies this year, gaining as many show miles as possible! They competed in the 3'3" Performance Hunters both weeks as an effort to get back into show shape. Thanks to Lumpy and Holly at Kilham Farms for helping Andrea the first week, giving her a fantastic warmup for the second! The two put in some very nice rounds in some large competitive classes, and followed up with the derby on week two. The course was great, with some new fun jumps included. After competing in one of these beautiful derbies, they are ready for some more! Marcel got to come show Halladio on the weekend and put in some very nice rounds in the Modified AA Hunters. The two were competing in a very tough division, and narrowly missed out on Reserve Champion by one point! Great job!

Raider and Nicole continue to work their way through the 1.10m jumpers in the beautiful Grand Prix ring at Sonoma! The courses were challenging, but the two rode each round better and better, finishing with a ribbon in one of the very large open classes! Raider, "Pedro," is offered for sale at Dreamland Farms.

Lactic and Meagan were met with some intense new jumps on the field in the main hunter ring. Although intimidating, Meagan did a fantastic job guiding Lactic around the course, and the two had some gorgeous rounds in the 3'3" Performance Hunters and A/O Hunters!

Candalero and Kim were the superstars of the weekend, winning some superior ribbons despite an unknown injury! Our oh-so-tough Kim rode through the pain in her .70m jumpers all week, winning most of them! Clearly, she and "Captain" won a beautiful champion ribbon, and she is now on her way to recovery! Way to rock it Kim!

Sensation, "Sensei," was another rockstar at Sonoma, winning first and second in almost every class he competed in! On his first day of showing, he won two seconds in the open .90-1.00m classes. Alexis joined us on the weekend for the amateur classes in the .95m-1.00m divisions. With a handful of blue and red ribbons, the pair were champions in BOTH .95m and 1.00m divisions! Great riding Alexis! Sensei is available for sale at Dreamland Farms.

Stillwater Splash is ready for the show year, putting in some amazing rounds in the PreGreen and 2'6" Amateur classes! He and Nicole got to show in the beautiful new ring with a bank, although it wasn't used, and he rode as if he had been raised there. The footing is fabulous, and the jumps were gorgeous, and Splash jumped his heart out! He finished with some fantastic scores against tough competition. He was then ready for Celeste to ride him over the weekend. After some good rounds on Friday and Saturday, the two truly shone bright on Sunday. They put in a stunning round in the Silver Medal Challenge class, and were sitting first for quite some time, until they were narrowly beaten by a skilled round. None the less, we couldn't have been prouder of the progress these two have made!

Last, but most certainly not least, Jackie Martin rode her young gelding, The Flying Coconut, in the 1.10 junior division. Never competing on the grand prix ring, they stepped in like they belonged. Jackie has done some amazing work with her big youngster, and they will absolutely be a competitive pair to watch grow in the big jumpers! Fantastic job!
