Almaden Farms Shows at Brookside

July 31, 2016

We were so fortunate to have the Almaden Farms Shows come up to Northern California this year! Because of the change of locations, we were able to participate in the fun and compete in this great show!

The highlight of these two weeks was the Almaden Farms Medal Finals, taking place during the first week. Jody and Ben took on the challenge, and competed in the three part finals this year. After putting in two very nice rounds, she was the only amateur in the final work-off. The judges picked out a tough test that challenged all riders, but Jody and Ben did a very good job working through it. We were so proud to stand up with her as she accepted 3rd place in very large and tough competition. They won numerous other ribbons, but we were so happy to see her rock the finals, good job!

The derby from the first week challenged the competitors by asking them to ride from one ring to the other. Bugsy was a bit stunned by this test, but Andrea did a great job guiding him through it! They followed up by coming back for the second week, and finished 4th with two scores of 82!

Pedro and Nicole also got their chance in the spotlight when they competed in the 1.15m Jake Gray Stake during the first week. With only a few classes at this height in their past, the two held their own across a long course. With an unfortunate rub and rail at the 12th effort, Pedro was still fast enough to claim 8th place. This horse is more than ready to move up from the 1.10m! Pedro is offered for sale at Dreamland Farms.

Meagan and Lactic continue to impress in the A/O Hunters, winning all but one of their classes in the first week! She did a great job under some stressfull situations, and Lactic was confident and beautiful. Great job!

Prince joined us at the horseshow to compete in the pony classes with Emilie Bell. We can't thank Emilie, her parents, and her trainers, Aimee Hanson and Riley Benvenuti, for helping us show off this fabulous pony! They won good ribbons in each class and finished very well. Prince is offered for sale at Dreamland Farms.

Luke came to gain experience, as well as show us how he manages in a show environment. He did not disappoint, needing no lunge, and stepping into each ring without a problem. He walks around the show grounds with a mellow head, and is happy to jump over hunter and jumper style fences. Luke is offered for sale at Dreamland Farms.

During the second week, we welcomed Lauren and her mounts, Salto and Sensei. This show was particularly great for her and Salto, as there are so many 2'9" hunter and equitation opportunities. The pair moved up to this height at the beginning of the year, and they are rocking it! Lauren even finished 3rd in the Pam Poulson 1, 2, 3 3-part equitation class!

Sensei is the experienced jumper that Lauren was lucky enough to ride for this show, and the two of them really had a connection! He knows how to win, and Lauren learned a lot, and got better each time she stepped into the ring! To prove it, the pair won the Alma Young Non-Pro classic on the last day! Sensei is offered for sale at Dreamland Farms.

Finally, we had so much fun introducing Nicole's new puppy, Blue, to the show scene! He had a blast meeting everyone, and is making a great addition to our show team! Come say hi and meet him!

We can't wait to come back to Brookside for the Wine Country Classic, but first, we are off to Sonoma for Giant Steps. See you all there!
