Nicole Roworth
Wine Country Classic
Looking back at last weekend, we had plenty of obstacles at this years Wine Country Classic--excessive heat, COVID-19, and some crazy weather with thunder and lightning! That being said, our horses and riders continued to perform to their best ability, and we came home with so much success!
Woody Allen and Jody rode in the Amateur Equitation and the $1500 MDC Stirrups Jr/Am Hunter Derby. With a 1st and 2nd, they brought home Champion in the Am Equitation, and two good rounds finished 6th in the derby!
Feron and Jody also came to continue winning in the Pleasure! They won a couple classes, with good ribbons in the others, and even won the Pleasure Championship class!
Lego and Lauren focused on their rounds in the jumper ring this show. They won the Cloverleaf Medal, and then finished with a 3rd place in the $1000 MDC Stirrups 3' Jr/Am Jumper Classic!
Callistro and Maureen continue to learn the 2'9" Hunter ring and were so incredibly consistent at this show! One unfortunate jump kept them out of the ribbons in the $1500 MDC Stirrups Jr/Am Hunter Derby after an awesome round, but we are still so proud of how they performed at this show!
Galileo got to show with his new owner, Kenton, at this show! After winning Champion in the Green 3' Hunters with Nicole, scoring multiple rounds in the mid 80s, he went around the Low Ch/Ad Hunters and Jr/Am Handy Hunters with Kenton, and finished Champion in the Low Ch/Ad Hunters!
Halladio and Andrea had some great mid 80 rounds in the Performance 3'3" Hunters to win Champion in the division. Then the two of them rode in the $1500 WCC Open Hunter Derby, where they had two consistent rounds to finish 3rd!
Cabernet and Tara came back for their second show, and they have come so far since their first show at Brookside Splash! They stepped up to the 2'6" classes, winning Reserve Champion in the USHJA 2'6" Hunters, then putting in a couple great rounds on the weekend!
City of Light and Madeline weren't able to compete or even school the first day of the show, but they performed even better! Some super consistent rounds won them 5 out of the 7 Short Stirrup classes, finishing Champion!
Bunbury Coral and Audrey always steal the show, and they get better every time they step into the ring! With a win over fences--and a win the Junior Pleasure!--they finished Reserve Champion Mini Stirrup!
Kipling's Bagheera came to the show in order to gain some experience, and he sure did! He hasn't been able to show much, but this brave horse stepped around the 2'6" classes with Nicole, and then Lauren stepped in on the weekend and gave him some great rides, despite never riding him before!
Don Ole stepped onto the trailer for the first couple days to keep him sharp in the show ring. He jumped well and finished Champion USHJA 2'6" Hunters!
We can't thank everyone at this show enough for all the efforts put forth! The weather was truly hot, but the staff kept water available everywhere. The team sitting at the entry gate and running around taking temperatures to ensure everyone's safety were incredible! The office staff, back gate team, judges, and ring crew did everything they could to keep the rings running to get everyone done as early as possible! And of course, incredible thanks to Marty and Brian for making this show happen! We love it every year!!!
